Schneickert, No. B223433 In a dispute arising from the enforcement of an arbitral award stemming from certain defamatory statements by defendant, judgment of the trial court is affirmed as modified because although arbitrator was empowered to compel a limited retraction of defamatory statements, he exceeded his powers by inserting specific language, including an apology, in a letter of retraction, and where language may be stricken without affecting the merits of the award.
