PANDORA SUBPOENAED OVER PRIVACY OF APPLE, ANDROID APPS
(FindLaw's Technologist) - When internet radio giant Pandora updated its SEC filing recently, it announced to the world that the mobile app market could potentially be in for a big change. Pandora disclosed that a grand jury in New Jersey had issued the company a subpoena to produce information about data collection methods for its Android and iPhone mobile applications. The subpoena is allegedly part of an industry-wide criminal investigation into how mobile apps collect and utilize user information, reports Ars Technica. Other developers have also been subpoenaed.

MICROSOFT ATTACKS GOOGLE OVER SECURITY
(AP) - Microsoft Corp. is lashing out at Google Inc., extending hostilities between two of the most prominent corporations in the technology industry. Microsoft claimed Google has been misleading customers about the security certification of its suite of software programs for governments. Microsoft's deputy general counsel, David Howard, blogged on Monday about a newly unsealed court document that shows that "Google Apps for Government" hasn't been certified under the Federal Information Security Management Act.

COURT: HARVARD TWINS STUCK WITH FACEBOOK AGREEMENT
(AP) - A federal appeals court ruled Monday that former Harvard University schoolmates of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg can't undo their settlement over creation of the social networking site. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Monday that Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss were savvy enough to understand what they were agreeing to when they signed the agreement in 2008.

SURVEY SHOWS GOVERNMENT AGENCIES FACING MORE COMPLEX ELECTRONIC DISCOVERY ISSUES WITH GROWING CONFIDENCE
(FindLaw Legal Technology Center) - The results of the 2010 Benchmarking Study of Electronic Discovery Practices for Government Agencies Survey have been released, showing that government agencies continue to face increases in the quantity of data to manage, but with increased budget constraints. Projects are also gaining in complexity, but government employees seem to be gaining in their ability to handle them, with 61% claiming to be "more confident" in their ability to manage e-discovery.
