TECH COMPANIES PITCH IN ON EARTHQUAKE RESPONSE
(AP) - Google Inc., Twitter, Microsoft Corp. and other U.S. technology companies are finding ways large and small to help out in the wake of last week's earthquake in Japan and the resulting tsunami. Google put together an online "person finder" database in Japanese, English, Korean, Chinese and Portuguese for people who are either seeking information about a missing person or have information to provide about someone affected by the disaster. The search company also launched a service that lets people staying in shelters share the list of names of disaster victims posted at their locations.

DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE CONTINUES TO STREAMLINE DISCOVERY SUPPORT
(FindLaw Legal Technology Center) - The Executive Office for United States Attorneys for the Department of Justice recently awarded a contract to IE Discovery to continue operating the Litigation Technology Service Center (LTSC) in Columbia, South Carolina. The Center supports U.S. Attorneys' Offices (USAOs) in all 94 judicial districts in over 200 geographically dispersed sites within the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands.

HEALTH NET LOSES SENSITIVE DATA FOR 2M PEOPLE
(AP) - A health insurance company that provides coverage to 6 million people nationwide said Monday it is missing data servers containing the health records, financial information and Social Security numbers for nearly 2 million current and past clients. Health Net Inc. said Monday it cannot account for several hard drives from a data center in the Sacramento suburb of Rancho Cordova.

TWITTER, REGULATORS FINALIZE SECURITY SETTLEMENT
(AP) - Federal regulators finalized a settlement Monday with Twitter related to data security lapses in 2009 that gave hackers access to users' accounts. The Federal Trade Commission said the settlement resolves charges that Twitter deceived its customers and put their privacy at risk by failing to keep their personal information safe as promised by the company's policies. The settlement bars Twitter from misleading consumers about its security and privacy practices for 20 years.
